Sylhet -A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal was sent to jail following his arrest in two cases filed over violence on Tuesday. Police arrested Abdul Kaiyum, acting general secretary of JCD of Bishwanath upazila unit and the convener of Sylhet MC College unit of Ilias Mukti Chhatra Songram Parishad, on the Bishwanath-Jagannathpur road in the afternoon.Officer-in-charge of Bishwanath Police Station Abdul High said police arrested Kaiyum following an arrest warrant in two separate cases filed with Kotwali and Bishwanath police stations in connection with violence. Local activists of JCD, student wing of BNP, staged a demonstration on the court premises protesting the arrest of Kaiyum.Later, police produced him before a court that sent him to jail in the evening, the OC added.
