A Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activist was shot to death allegedly by a Jubo League man at Jhalam Uttar Bazar in Barura upazila on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Saddam Hossain, 20, an activist of the local unit of JCD and son of Anwar Hossain Bhandari of Kanail village in the upazila. Kawsar Alam Selim, general secretary of upazila unit BNP, said Saddam recently joined the politics of JCD resigning from Bangladesh Chhatra League. Jubo League man Masum shot Saddam in the chest following an altercation over the issue at the bazaar today noon, leaving him critically injured. Later, he was rushed to Barura Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead. Connected, officer-in-charge of Barura Police Station AKM Kawsar Chowdhury said Saddam might have been killed over establishing supremacy in the area. – UNB
