JMB elements ‘confess robbery, mugging to raise money’

Dhaka – Six members of banned militant outfit Jamiatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), arrested on Monday evening from Tejgaon area in the city, made confessional statements on Sunday.Magistrate Kazi Kamrul Islam of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka recorded the confessional statement of Md Kashem alias Kawsar alias Kashu, 20, under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) while Magistrate Sottobrato Sikdar recorded the statement of Nazmul Hasan Nayan alias Noresh, 23.
Meanwhile, Md Rashed alias Kakolir Baba, 27, confessed to the court of Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan and Md Sentu Hawladar alias Jahid, 26, confessed to Magistrate Sharafuzzaman Ansari. Besides, Metropolitan Magistrate Emdadul Haque recorded the confessional statement of Md Abu Bakar Siddique alias Shuvra alias Akash, 20 and
Magistrate Maruf Hasan recorded the confessional statement of Md Abdul Bashed, 22.
After recording their confessional state they were sent to the jail. Another JMB militant Md Jewel Sarker alias Shohrab alias Sarker, 32 did not make any confession on the occasion. Earlier on Monday evening, members of the CTTC unit arrested the seven suspected of JMB men from Tejgaon area.
Briefing reporters at DMP media centre on Tuesday, Additional Police Commissioner and Head of the CTTC Monirul Islam said members of the banned outfit JMB have been found involved in robbery and mugging to collect money for running their militant activities and to meet the expenses of cases, lodged against their leaders. – Special Correspondent
