JS session resumes today: caretaker discussion unlikely

The parliament session resumes at 11:00am today after an 11-day recesses. The sitting of the day is expected to start with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury in the chair.
The 18th session began on June 3 and will be prorogued on Thursday, according Parliament Secretariat sources.
The sources said there is a little possibility to discuss the issue of restoration of non-party caretaker government as both the ruling and opposition benches would not bring any proposal on the issue.
It is learnt that the opposition lawmakers will try to speak on the caretaker government issue and the results of five city corporation elections on point of order and the ruling party has taken the preparation to deal with them.
The opposition lawmakers retuned the House on the first day of the session after non-stop abstention of 83 days making the sittings of Parliament lively.
The House passed the national budget for 2013-2014 on June 30 and the session was adjourned on July 2.
A number of bills including the much-talked-about Labour Law (Amendment) Bill-2013 and River Protection Commission Bill-2013 is likely to be considered in the current session.
