Jahangirnagar University Journalist Association (JUJA) express concern over the barrage of cases, warrants and summons issued against the Daily Star editor and publisher Mahfuz Anam.
In a press statement, signed by JUJA President Belal Hossain Rahat and General Secretary Moudud Ahmmed Sujan the association condemned the filling of the causes.
“The filling of these cases across the country indicates a politically motivated aggressive effort to harass the senior editor of a newspaper of the country.
“JUJA observed that such move could put democracy and the freedom of speech at risk” it said.
The association hoped that everyone concerned would play their responsible role for ensuring freedom of speech by the constitution and demanded fair and impartial trails in all cases filed against Mahfuz Anam. – JU Correspondent
