Juba League men ‘snatch’ tender box in Laxmipur

Laxmipur – Local Juba League activists allegedly snatched a tender box from the LGED office in Raipur upazila on Tuesday.
LGED officials and witnesses said tenders were invited from contractors for works worth Tk 2.20 crore in three schools under Primary Education Development Programme-III project.A total of 33 schedules were sold till Monday when the sale ended. Tuesday was the last date for dropping tender documents.
However, Jubo League upazila unit convener Quamrul Hasan accompanied by his men stormed into the LGED office around 12 pm and snatched the tender box.
Later, they broke the box before upazila parishad office and took away the submitted tender schedules.
On information, police visited the spot. But, no one was arrested.
Contacted, Quamrul Hasan denied the allegation of their involvement in the incident.
Raipur upazila engineer M Akhter Hossain Bhuiyan confirmed the matter, saying they have already informed the higher authorities about it.
Nasiruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Raipur Police Station, said they were investigating the incident and will take necessary action after investigation. – UNB
