Don’t harass BNP leader Salahuddin: HC

Dhaka – The High Court on Tuesday asked the government not to harass and arrest BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed without following the due process of law.Responding to a petition, filed by Salahuddin’s lawyer Barrister Kaiser Kamal, an HC division bench comprising Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Mohammad Habibul Goni passed the order.
The High Court also issued a rule asking the government to explain as to why the police will not be directed to refrain from arresting or harassing BNP joint general secretary Salahuddin and stop conducting raids on his house and business establishment without following the due process of law.
The rule is returnable within four weeks.
A team of police conducted a raid on the house and business establishment Salahudin on December 30 and 31 last. – UNB
