Jubo Dal announces 2-day prog to realise demand

Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, the youth wing of BNP, on Saturday announced a two-day programme to press home their seven-point demand, including the release of its leaders and activists and withdrawal of ‘false’ cases against them. Jubo Dal senior vice president Abdus Salam Azad announced the programme at a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office. As part of the programme, the BNP associate body will arrange special prayers at the country’s worship places, including mosques, temples and pagodas, on January 31 seeking peace and salvation of the souls of its those leaders and activists were killed in the recent movement. Besides, Jubo Dal will stage demonstrations at all divisional cities and district towns on February, demanding the government meet their demands. Their other demands include holding a fresh general election under a non-party government, withdrawing of ‘false’ cases against BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman and, ending the disparaging remarks against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia by the Prime Minister and releasing top BNP leaders. Addressing the press conference, Salam claimed around 91 Jubo Dal leaders and activists were killed by the law enforcers and ruling party ‘cadres’ across the country during their movement for restoring democracy over the last three months. Besides, he said, thousands of Jubo Dal leaders and activists, including its president Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal and general secretary Saiful Islam Nirob, were implicated in ‘false’ cases. Mentioning that a number of cases were filed against him, the Jubo Dal leader said their president Alal was implicated in 103 cases while general secretary Nirob in around 100 cases. He also demanded punishment of those involved in the killing of their 91 leaders and activists. – UNB
