Kamaruzzaman shifted to Dhaka central jail

Condemned war crimes convict M Kamaruzzaman was taken to Dhaka central jail from Kashimpur jail on Tuesday.
Kamaruzzaman, who was kept at Part-2 condemned cell of Kashimpur jail, was taken to Dhaka in a prison van around 11:45 am amid tight security, Jail sources have been quoted to have said.The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Monday upheld the verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal-2, which sentenced Kamaruzzaman to death for committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
Kamaruzzaman’s lawyers told journalists after the SC decision that they would prefer a review of the Apex court. Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said on the other hand that there was no scope of review under the ICT Act of 1973 under which the trial was held. – GreenWatch Desk
