Dhaka – A guard of Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur, north of capital Dhaka, was gunned down by
miscreants in front of its jail gate on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rustom Ali, 60, a former sergeant instructor of Mohila unit of the jail.Quoting witnesses, additional superintendent of police Monwar Hossain said Rustom went to ‘Ahmed Medicine Cornre’, adjacent to the main gate of the jail, to buy medicine around 11:15am.
Three miscreants riding a moving motorbike passed the area very quickly and opened fire at him, leaving him injured with bullets in the chest and head.
Later, he was taken to Shahid Tajuddin Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Meanwhile, police detained the owner of the drug store for interrogation.
