Kazi Zafar to be laid to rest at ancestral home in Chauddagram

Jatiya Party (Z) chairman and former prime minister Kazi Zafar Ahmed will be laid to rest beside his parents graves at Cheora village in Chauddagram upazila, Comilla on Saturday.
“Four more janazas of Kazi Zafar Ahmed will held in Camilla on Saturday. Later, he will be buried beside the greaves of his parents at Cheora village after Asr prayers,” deceased’s nephew Kazi Nazrul Islam told journalists on Friday.
Earlier in the day, his fourth janaza was held at Gulshan Azad Mosque after Asr prayers while the third one at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Juma’ prayers.Kazi Zafar’s first namaz-e-janaza was held at Biswa Ijtema ground around 8:15 am as per his wish, while the second at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban around 11am.
His body was kept at a mortuary vehicle in front of his Gulshan residence. It will remain there overnight on Friday and then will be taken to Comilla on Saturday morning.
Kazi Zafar’s fifth janaza will held at Comilla Town Hall around 11am while the sixth at Suagazi of Sadar South upazila at 12noon, the seventh at Chauddagram High School  ground after Zohr prayers and the eight and final one at Cheora Govt Collage ground after Asr prayers, said Nazrul.
Quoting Chauddagram UNO Debomoy Dewan, he said Kazi Zafar will be given state honour at the college ground as he was a freedom fighter.
Kazi Zafar, also a former presidium member of the Ershad-led Jatiya Party, passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 76.- UNB
