Khaleda blames govt for damaging temples engaging people

Accusing pro-government elements of attacking temples of the minority communities to divert people’s
attention from its misdeeds, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Friday urged the current regime to stop the
game.“Stop attacking temples…you (government) will have to face the dire consequences if one more temple
is damaged,” Khaleda said in a note of warning to the government.
The Leader of the Opposition was addressing a rally at Goalimandra Bazar in Louhajang upazila in the
afternoon. Earlier, Khaleda visited a Hindu community’s temple, recently damaged by miscreants, at the
bazaar.
Referring to the Shahbagh movement, the BNP chairperson said a group of atheists and pro-government
people are involved in the so-called protest. “Stop the politics of erecting Manchas (podiums)…people
will drive you out when they’ll start marching towards Dhaka.”
The BNP chief arrived at the damaged temple around 5:20 pm, talked to the affected people and
assured them of rebuilding their place of worship.
Unidentified miscreants torched the temple at the dead of night on March 3. UNB
