Khaleda not going to Shaheed Minar this time

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is staying at her Gulshan office since January 3, is not going to Shaheed Minar this time to pay homage to the language martyrs, according to BNP leaders.
However, the senior leaders and activists of the party will visit the Shaheed Minar to place wreath early hours of Saturday.A BNP leader preferring to anonymity said the party chairperson is yet to inform them about her decision to go to Shaheed Minar but she wants to stay at her office until the government accepts the demand for a fresh election under a non-partisan administration.
Earlier on January 19, the former premier did not visit the mazar of her husband late President Ziaur Rahman to mark his birth anniversary.
BNP joint secretary Salahuddin Ahmed in a statement said that like previous years BNP leaders and activists would place wreath at the Shaheed Minar to pay respect to language martyrs.
He requested leaders and activists of the party and its front organisations to gather in front of Balaka Cinema Hall early in the morning to go to Shaheed Minar. – Staff Reporter
