Khaleda sued for ‘derogatory remarks’ against State

Dhaka, Dec 27 – A case was filed against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday over her alleged derogatory remarks against the State and its creation.Advocate Abdul Malek alias Mashiur Malek, president of Bangabandhu Foundation, filed the case with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s court in the morning.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Atiqur Rahman recorded the statement of the plaintiff and the court will give its order in this connection later.
According to the case statement, the BNP chief came up with ‘derogatory remarks’ about the State and its creation while addressing a discussion meeting at the city’s Engineers Institution Auditorium on December 21.
In her address, Khaleda said, “There are controversies over how many were martyred in the Liberation War. There are also many books and documents on the controversies.”
The case statement added that Khaleda in that programme also made controversial remarks on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s role during the Liberation War. – UNB
