Khaleda’s arrest will bring political funeral of Govt: Bnp

Bnp joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Friday that the current illegal government will have its political funeral if it arrests Khaleda Zia as the agitators are active in the hartal and blockade programmes despite the so-called gunfight and crossfire.
The party accused the government of crafting various ‘evil designs’ to arrest BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, and threatened it of dire consequences if it tries to arrest her in a bid to suppress the ongoing movement.
In a statement, BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “The government is thinking that the 20-party’s movement is likely to lose its pace if Begum Zia is arrested.”The BNP leaders said the statements of the head of the government and its members suggest that they all are in a competition of using low-taste language.
He alleged that the national parliament has now been made either a second office of Awami League or a club of the grand alliance government where a competition is going on to hurl abusive words against the Zia family and issue threats to suppress the ongoing movement.
“They’re (MPs) simultaneously screaming for the arrest of the BNP chairperson,” he observed.
Coming down hard on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s cousin Sheikh Selim, MP, Rizvi said he is talking about trying Khaleda in public only to appease his sister.
Mentioning that Selim once brought ‘extortion allegation’ against Hasina, the BNP leader said there is no doubt that he will seek also her trial if she falls in danger.
Referring to State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal that they are assessing legal the process of arresting the BNP chief, Rizvi said the legal process means implementing the order of the Prime Minister as now a one-party state, one-party polls, one-party administration and one-party judiciary are prevailing in the country. – UNB
