BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed on Thursday said their party chairperson Khaleda Zia sent out a massage from jail to ensure the Awami League-led government’s fall through a movement by forging a national unity.
Speaking at a discussion, he also said their party will launch a fresh movement from October 1 to force the government to concede to their various demands, including holding the next polls under a non-party administration.
“Our ex-attorney general AJ Mohammad Ali met Khaleda Zia yesterday (Wednesday). He informed us that her physical condition is in very bad shape as she can’t walk and move her right hand. She, however, gave some massages for us through him,” Moudud said.
He further said, “Begum Zia’s number one message is to take steps for removing the current regime through a movement after creating the national unity. She wants the national unity to be forged.”
Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal organised the programme at Nayapaltan’s Bhasani auditorium marking the second death anniversary of ex-BNP standing committee member ASM Hannan Shah.
The BNP leader said their party has been in the process of forming the national unity. “We must realise our demands from the government through taking to the streets together with people.”
He also said though the government is now saying it will not engage in talks, it will eventually be forced to hold discussions with political parties to resolve the current political deadlock.
Moudud said if Awami League thinks it will retain power through a January-5, 2014 like election, it is their daydream as people will not let it happen.
He said their party will join the next polls after freeing Khaleda Zia from jail through the national unity.
The BNP leader urged the leaders and activists of Mohila Dal, BNP’s women front, to take all-out preparations for waging a strong movement. “We’ll join the election after making our movement a success. So, we’ll have to take preparations both for the movement and the election.”
Mentioning that their party will announce fresh action programmes from the October 1, he urged their female leaders and activists to be there in the frontline of the movement.
