Khaleda’s Munshiganj rally Wednesday: Undeclared emergency: BNP

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) yesterday alleged that an emergency like situation is prevailing in the country.
BNP joint secretary general Rizvi Ahmed made the allegation while briefing reporters at party head office at Naya Paltan in the city.
“The misrule by the government in Bangladesh today is not comparable to any other country,” he said.
Rizvi said, the BNP chairperson would visit to Munshiganj on Wednesday and address a public meeting at Launchghat.All preparations have been taken to make the public meeting a success, he added.
Earlier, the former premier was scheduled to address public meetings at Naryanganj, Demra and Supreme Court premises to protest against murders, enforced disappearances and abduction but she was barred to hold the meetings.
Rizvi Ahmed said the present government has snatched the rights of people and saddle itself on their shoulders.
He accused the government of resuming office by holding the voter less January 5 parliamentary polls.
The BNP leader also alleged that the government has been carrying out brutal activities in a planned way to eliminate the opposition
He said the government has become panic and concern to allow the BNP to hold any open place or indoor rally or meeting.
“The Awami League has become a particular brand for killing, enforced disappearance and abduction,” he added.
Rizvi said the BNP would hold a discussion meeting at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) on May 29 to mark the death anniversary of President Ziaur Rahman. BNP chairperson and also the wife of Ziaur Rahman will present at the meeting.
Khaleda Zia along with party leaders and activists is scheduled to place wreath at the mazar of Ziaur Rahman to mark the day.
BNP leader Khairul Kabir Khokan and Abdul Latif Jony, among others, were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, addressing a discussion meeting at the National Press Club BNP standing committee member MK Anwar said the AL is fighting among them and shifting its responsibility to BNP to cover up their misdeeds.
Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal organised the meeting with BNP chairperson’s adviser Shamsuzzaman Dudu in the chair.
MK Anwar accused the government of politicising all including the law enforcing agencies.
He called upon the people to wage movement against the government to protect the country from destruction.
Moazzem Hossain Alal, Toufiq Hossain Zahir and Mehedi Ahmed Rumi, among others, also addressed the meeting. – Staff Reporter
