DRU to continue movement for trial of Sagor-Runi killers

Leaders of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) yesterday vowed to continue their movement for demanding the trial of killers of journalist couple Sagor Sarwar and Meherun Runi.
They expressed their vow while addressing 19th founding anniversary function of the organization.DRU president Shahed Chowdhury, former president Shakhawat Hossain Badsha, vice-president Rafiqul Islam Azad, general secretary Elias Khan, former general secretary Jamal Uddin, convenor of founding anniversary celebration committee Ashraful Islam and member-secretary Mursalin Nomani addressed the function greeting the members of the DRU.
The daylong programme was launched in the morning with the hoisting of national and DRU flags and releasing of pigeons at the DRU premises at Segun Bagicha.
DRU members brought out a colourful procession which paraded different city streets on the occasion.
Later, a cake was cut marking the DRU founding anniversary in a festive mood.
On May 26 in 1995, the DRU was established as a platform to work together under one umbrella for the improvement of the standard of journalism in our country and try to adhere to fair professional practices. – Staff Reporter
