Charge-sheet against Moudud for land possession

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday submitted charge sheet to a Dhaka court in a case against BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed and his brother Manjur Ahmed for occupying government land abusing power.
ACC Deputy Director Harun-ur-Rashid submitted charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka on Monday afternoon. On 17 December last year, ACC filed the case against Barrister Moudud and his brother Manzur Ahmed, now living in London with Gulshan Thana on the charge of occupying the land, worth Tk 300 crore.
The case statement says that Moudud Ahmed illegally occupied an abandoned house of Gulshan Avenue in the name of his expatriate brother Manjur Ahmed.
Australian woman, Inge Maria Flatz was the original owner of the house. Flatz and her husband Ehsan (both non-Bengalis) had left the country before the announcement of the list of government abandoned houses on January 21, 1972. Later, the plot was included in the list of abandoned houses.
In August 1973, Moudud allegedly prepared a fake power of attorney of Maria Flatz to grab the land and used it to attain his own interest. Since then, Moudud had been living in the house showing himself as a tenant of Maria Flatrz.
When Moudud was holding different posts as minister, deputy prime minister and prime ministers during 1978-1989, he tried to grab the house abusing his power, the FIR of the case said. – Court Correspondent
