Police arrested the son of former Awami League MP Khan Tipu Sultan of Jessore from city’s Dhanmondi area on charge of killing his wife on Thursday night.
The arrestee was identified as Humayun Sultan Sadat, a resident of Dhanmondi area.Police said Mehzabin, wife of Humayun, was brought to the Dhanmandi Central Hospital in an unconscious condition Thursday afternoon where doctors declared her dead.
Later, police detained Humayun for interrogation.
The in-laws of Mehzabin said Mehzabin committed suicide by hanging herself from the grill in her room with a scarf on Thursday. Later, she was taken to the hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Nurul Islam, father of the deceased, filed a murder case accusing Tipu, his wife Dr. Jesmin Ara Begum and their son Humayun. – UNB
