‘Sarangshe Tumi’ is one among six other films from Bangladesh that have also participated at the festival.
“Sarangshe Tumi,” a musical film based on famous singer and musician Kumar Bishwajit’s song, is set to be screened at the SAARC Film Festival 2017 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The 5-day festival started on November 21 at the National Film Corporation cinema hall, with eight SAARC countries participating at the festival.
Produced by Bangladhol Limited, “Sarangshe Tumi” is one among six other films from Bangladesh that have also participated at the festival.
Kumar recently told the press that he is happy to hear the news and thinks that this is good news for Bangladeshi films.
He also added that he is feeling great that a film based on his song will travel from his nation and entertain audience abroad.
He has thanked Bangladhol Limited and hopes that they will keep producing quality films like this.
Bangladhol Limited’s Managing Director said: “We received unbelievable response from the audience after producing the film. Bangladhol always likes to produce out of the box contents and if we have everyone’s support we will keep on producing these sorts of content.”
While the original songs from the album of the same title were penned by Shahidullah Farayji, Kabir Bakul, Zulfiqar Rasel, Ibrahim Fatmi, Shafiq Tuhin, Hena Islam and Panchu Bhattacharya, the songs were composed by Kumar himself.
The song “Shampane Badhibo Ghor” from the album was, however, composed by Naqib Khan. Other co-artists were Shubhamita Banerjee, Soumitra Chatterjee, Nancy and Samina Chowdhury.
Released at Dhaka’s Star Cineplex during 2016’s Pohela Boishakh, the 42-minute long film’s screenplay was written by Gazi Mazharul Anwar and directed by Ashiqur Rahman. After it received its censor certificate on May 5 this year, the film was also broadcasted on different local TV channels, then later distributed through a streaming platform called BanglaFlix.
The remaining eight films, participating from Bangladesh out of the 24 projects at festival are “Oggatonama,” “Onil Bagchir Ekdin,” “Premi O Premi,” “Bibek,” “Bishombor Babur Daay” and “Janani.”
