A lawyer was killed and two others injured when a pickup van knocked
down a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Isakhali Bazar in Rangunia upazila on
Friday.
The deceased was identified as Chandranath Chowdhury, 58, son of
Sachindranath Chowdhury, resident of the city.
Witnesses said the accident took place in the area when a pickup van
hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying three people, leaving Chandranath
dead on the spot and two others injured.
Injured Moonmun Chowdhury, daughter-in-law of Chandranath, and Nandini
Chowdhury, his grand-daughter, were rushed to Chittagong Medical
College Hospital.
Sub-inspector Jalal of Rangunia Police Station said Chandranath met
the tragic end while going to his village home for taking part in
sraddha of his mother who had died one month back.
Police sent the body to hospital morgue for autopsy. – UNB, Chittagong
