A lawyer of the Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a legal notice to the concerned authorities for proper amendments to nine sections of the much-debated Digital Security Act.
The lawyer, SM Zulfikar Ali Zunu, served the notice over registered mails to the ministers and secretaries of the Ministry of Information and Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and also to cabinet secretary.
In the notice, the lawyer asked the respondents to take immediate steps for proper amendments to sections no. 8, 21, 25, 28, 29, 31, 32, 43 and 53 within thirty days otherwise, a writ petition will be filed with the High Court.
The much-talked-about ‘Digital Security Bill, 2018’ was passed in Parliament on September 19 and President Abdul Hamid assented to the Bill making it a law on October 8.
