Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) has implemented various projects of
Tk 92.49 crore in six upazilas of the district during the last fiscal (2012-2013).
The projects included construction of 48.22 km pucca roads at a cost of Tk 29.30 crore,
repairing of 100 km pucca roads in different places of the district at a cost of Tk 12.66
crore, construction of 598 metres bridge and culverts at a cost of Tk 31.02 crore and
repairing of 355 metres bridge and culverts at a cost of Tk 22 lakh.
LGED also constructed 88 primary school buildings in different upazilas of the district at
a cost of Tk 14.57 crore.
Besides, the department created employment opportunities to the 700 rural distress
and divorced women under its Rural Employment and Road Maintenance Programme
(RERMP) project and 195 poor women in the Rural Roads and Culvert Maintenance
(RRCM) project at a cost of Tk 4.66 crore. -BSS, Narsingdi
