GOPALGANJ: At least four people were killed and six others injured in separate incidents of lighting in three upazilas of the district on Thursday.The deceased were identified as Paritush, 50, of Khulna, Boshar Gazi, 25, of Satkhira, Sajib Sheikh, 17, and Piyush Banerjee, 33, of Tungipara upazila.
Kotwali Thana Officer-in-Charge Zakir Hossain Molla said Paritush and Bosahr Gazi were killed as lighting struck them while they were cutting paddy at Bultali union under Sadar thana.
They were rushed to district hospital where doctor declared them dead.
On the other hand, Tungipara Thana Officer-in-Charge Habibullah Sarkar said Piyush and Sajib were killed as lightning struck them while they were working in the field.
Six people were injured in lightning in separate incidents in three upazilas.
Injured were admitted to nearest hospitals, sources said.
