A couple was killed in a lightning strike in Ranisankail upazila headquarters early Friday.The deceased were identified as Mohammad Hanif, 50, and his wife Chand Banu, 43, of the Diabetic intersection in the upazila headquarters.Locals said a thunderbolt struck the couple around 2am when they were taking firewood to house from the courtyard amid rain, leaving them dead on the spot.Officer-in-charge of Ranisankail Police Station Sukumar Mohanta confirmed the incident.A pall of gloom descended on area following the incident. -UNB
