Barisal: A cargo ship with 2500 tonnes carrying capacity and built in a private shipyard of Barisal launched on Thursday noon.Advocate Mojibor Rahman Sarwar, local lawmaker, city president and central organizing secretary of BNP, was the chief guest of the sailing ceremony of MV Sea Spirit at Khawaza Dockyard and Shipbuilders Limited in Beltala area on the bank of Kirtankhola River on city skirt.
Leaders of the launch owners and workers associations, businessmen, bankers, socio-cultural-political personalities and elites were present in the ceremony.
The 175 feet long and 35 feet wide vessel was built within 10 months at the cost of Tk.4.5 core in collaboration with Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited Barisal branch.
Two 350 horse powered Chinese engines will operate the full loaded vessel by hydraulic wheel and central operating system at the speed of 8 nautical miles per hour between the Chittagong-Mongla coastal route, said Masud Howladar, managing director of the vessel owner Masers Sun State Company, a firm of USA expatriates.
