Long March towards Myanmar Dec 18: IAB for opening border

Islami Andolon Bangladesh (IAB) has announced a programme to organise long march towards Myanmar on December 18 if the atrocities on Rohingya Muslims aren’t stopped.Ameer of the party and the Pir Shaheb of Charmonai Mufti Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim announced this from a program of the siege of Myanmar embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday.
As per earlier announcement, the followers of Islami Andolon Bangladesh gathered in front of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 10:00am on the day to lay siege to the embassy. They started for Myanmar embassy at 11:00am after a brief rally.
When the procession reached Nightingle intersection at Kakrail, police intercepted them. Rezaul Karim said to the government, “Open the border and make arrangements for giving shelters to Rohingyas”.
“Long march program towards Myanmar will be launched on December 18. We will reach Myanmar if necessary by swimming to cross the Naf River at the border,” he added.
Later, a 5-member delegation led by Rezaul Karim went to Myanmar embassy to submit the memorandum under the supervision of police.
Nayeb-e-Ameer of Islami Andolon Bangladesh Faizul Karim, Joint Secretary General ATM Hemayet Uddin and others addressed the rally. – Staff Reporter
