Legendary musician and freedom fighter, Lucky Akhand returned to the country after completing one phase of chemotherapy in Bangkok, Thailand.
The singer-composer, who is suffering from lung cancer, returned to Dhaka with his daughter Mamminti on March 25.
“Father’s health is in better condition now. However, I will have to take him to Bangkok again in June,” Mamminti told a news agency.
Akhand recieved chemotherapy for the last six months at Phyathai Hospital Bangkok.
The reclusive singer-composer was admitted to Phyathai Hospital last year, after being diagnosed with lung cancer. After going through a surgery, he returned home in October.
However, as his health condition deteriorated, he was taken to Bangkok again in November. This time around Bangladeshi government stepped forward to aid Lucky’s treatment.
Currently Akhand is staying in Old Dhaka.
Mamminti said Akhand will have to go to Bangkok again in June to take another set of chemotherapy at Phyathai Hospital, upon consultation with the physicians.
Last year, on September 1, Lucky Akhand was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University after falling ill. Within a week, he was diagnosed with cancer.
Lucky Akhand has composed and sang a number popular songs. Amay deko na, Ei nil monihar, Kobita porar prohor esheche, Jekhane shimanto tomar, Ma monia, Likhte pari na kono gan, Bhalobeshe chole jeo na, Bitrishna jibone amar, Ki kore bolle tumi, Eto dure je chole gecho etc are to name a few.
