‘Mahasen’ causes deferring of HSC exams

Thursday’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations have been rescheduled for May 25 fearing inclement weather due to cyclonic storm ‘Mahasen’.“Now, the examinations scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday) will be held on May 25 (Saturday),” Taslima Begum, chairman of Dhaka Education Board and Bangladesh Inter-education Board Coordination Subcommittee, told UNB on Wednesday.
‘Mahasen’ with estimated centre pressure of 996 hPa is likely to cross Khepupara-Teknaf coast near Chittagong by early Thursday morning.
However, its peripheral gusty/squally wind may affect the coastal regions of Bangladesh from 10pm today, said a Met Office special bulletin.
The maritime ports of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar have been advised to hoist danger signal number seven while Mongla has been asked to hoist danger signal number five. UNB
