Those who have been working for the development of material for children’s education programme or other education programmes for years have not got minimum help from the internet yet.I am writing a word book for children where I needed the English meaning of kai mas (kai fish), I couldn’t find it in the dictionary of Bangla Academy in neither English-Bengali nor Bengali-English dictionaries. Then I browsed internet and youtube and I found the meaning of koi fish is ‘Climbing fish’, ‘anabus’ and some other meaning. But which one is correct? Then I tried to search for Shing fish and nothing was found in the dictionaries.
We cannot check the Bangla spelling on the internet yet and all the newspapers are not practising standard spelling which was supposed to practising according to advised by the Bangla Academy.
I urge the authorities to prepare materials for children like common birds, fishes, flowers, and animals and so on and prepare some storybooks with moral education, biography of eminent persons, science fictions, rhymes, and all dictionaries including sciences for children can be uploaded to the Shishu Academy website and can be browsed and downloaded free.
