A man was killed by his younger brother over a land dispute at Robertsonganj area in
Rangpur city on Friday noon.
The deceased was identified as Kakon (40), son of late Abul Khayer of the area.
According to police and local sources, Kakon had a long standing dispute with his
younger brother Nayan (33) over an ancestral land.
On the day of occurrence family members of the two brothers and local people arranged
a local arbitration to settle the issue peacefully at noon. But the two brothers got locked
into an altercation over the issue.
At one stage, Nayan started hitting his elder brother Kakon with a bamboo stick at the
head indiscriminately leaving him dead on the spot.
On information police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Rangpur
Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
A murder case was filed in this connection with Kotwali Police Station.
Later, police arrested killer Nayan.
View exchange meeting held in Rangpur
A view exchange meeting on giving importance to the poor in providing various services
of Livestock department was held at district Livestock office on Thursday.
Deputy director of Rangpur divisional livestock office Dr. Saiful Islam addressed the
meeting as chief guest while district livestock officer Dulal Chanra presided over the
meeting. Assistant director of government Poultry farm Dr. Jatichandra Barmon and
Assistant director of livestock department Dr.Mahbubul Anom were present as special
guests.
Addressing the meeting divisional livestock officer Dr. Shahidul Islam said that the
department is providing various training to the poor to make them self-reliant. So far
some 27,680 familes in the region became self-reliant by getting the benefit of the
service. The department distributed 3 lakh 22 thousand 813 cows, 4 lakh 12 thousand
goats and 12 lakh 4 thousand ducks among the poor during last nine years.
The department is playing vital role in Changing socio-economic condition of the poor,
