Dhaka – A court here on Wednesday sentenced a man to death for killing his wife in Mirpur upazila in Kushtia in 2014.The condemned convict is Rubel Malitha alias Prem, son of Shyer Ali Malitha of Kabarbaria village.The court also fined the convict Tk 2 lakh, in default, to suffer six months more imprisonment.Public Prosecutor Advocate Anup Kumar Nandi said Rubel Malitha married off Kumkumi Khatun, daughter of Abdul Kuddus of Tantiban village in 2014.After the marriage, Rubel used to torture his wife.On March 2 of the year, he strangulated Kumkumi to death and kept the body at the veranda of their house.Victim’s father filed a case against Rubel with Mirpur Police Station.After examining the documents and witnesses, additional sessions judge A B M Mahmudul Haque handed down the verdict.UNB
