Ministers, MPs behind murders, resign taking responsibility: Fakhrul

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday alleged that government ministers, and ruling party lawmakers are involved in the seven murders in Narayanganj.
“The government ministers and MPs were involved in seven murders in Narayanganj. Thus probe has to be carried out against them in a free and fair manner and without nepotism,” he said while talking to reporters after placing wreaths at the mazar of late President Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.He placed the wreath along with BNP and Chhatra Dal leaders to mark the release of Chhatra Dal president Abdul Quader Bhuiyan Jwel and general secretary Habibur Rashid Habib. They were freed from prisons on May 5 and 6 respectively.
The BNP leader accused the government of carrying out killings, forced disappearance and abduction across the country and demanded its resignation by taking the responsibility of the killings.
“The government has no moral ground to retain to power after the incident,” he added.
He also called upon the government to find out the real culprits and provide them exemplary punishment for the murders.
Fakhrul alleged that the government has established a reign of killing, forced disappearance and abduction by using the members of law enforcing agencies.
He further alleged that the government has been carrying out killing, forced disappearance and abduction one after another during the last five years to create panic among the opposition leaders and activists and reign of terror.
The BNP spokesperson rejected the ruling party allegation that the BNP is doing politics capitalising the Narayanganj incident saying that the people do not believe the government and it is clear to them about the entire incident of Narayanganj.
He further alleged that the government is trying to cover up the incident of Narayanganj.
He also demanded carrying out investigation against the alleged involvement of relatives of particular minister in the sensitive murders.
Replying to a question, the BNP leaders and JSD leaders have taken oath anew and the government would continue until the victory is achieved.
BNP jpnt secretary general Aman Ullah Aman, international affairs secretary Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon, Nazimuddin Alam, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anny, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Mir Sharafat Ali Sapu, Shafiul Bari Babu and JCD president and secretary Jwel and Habib, among others, were present on the occasion. – Staff Reporter
