BRTA will have to control it strictly showing a zero tolerance,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on the progress of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA)’s activities at the Biam Foundation auditorium in the city.
BRTA chairman Nazrul Islam presided over the discussion.
The minister also said there is no instance in any other country in the world to carry children on a bike as a co-rider.
He asked BRTA to control juvenile drivers as 12-13-year-old boys are seen driving vehicles across the country, including the capital.
Obaidul Quader said the plying of unfit vehicles, battery-run easy-bikes, Nasimon and Karimon will have to be stopped on highways immediately. “If we don’t ban the plying of small vehicles in the city, traffic problem will never be eased even after constructing metro rail, expressway, flyovers and U-loops,” he said.
