Dhaka-Two people were killed and a constable was injured in a road accident on the Meghna Bridge in Gazaria upazila on Friday.The deceased were identified as Rani Sheel, 29, wife of constable Nepal Chandra Sheel of Daudkandi Nilkamal police camp in Comilla, and Shah Newaz, 50, driver of a leguna. Constable Nepal Chandra was also injured in the mishap.
Officer-in-charge of Gazaria Police Station Hedayetul Islam Bhuiyan said the accident took place in the area in the evening when a speedy covered van hit a leguna (human hauler) carrying the couple, leaving them and its driver injured.
They were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Rani and Shah Newaz dead.
Police also seized the two vehicles from the spot.
