BARISAL- A motorcyclist was killed and two others were seriously injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Barisal highway in Berthi Bus Stand area under Gaurnadi upazila in the district this afternoon.The deceased was identified as M Rafiq, 22, son of Mahabub Kabiraj of Berthi village of the upazila.Sub-Inspector of Gournadi Highway Police Station M Majibur Rahman said the accident occurred when a Chittagong-bound passenger bus of the “Southern Transport Company” hit the motorcycle in the area at around 5.15 pm, leaving three of motorbike riders injured critically.
The injured were rushed to Gaurnadi Upazila Health Complex where duty doctor declared Rafiq, who was driving the motorcycle, dead.
Later, the rest of the injured were referred to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.Police detained the bus but its driver and helper managed to flee.(BSS)
