MP Sanwar rejects report he was slapped by Obaidul

Dhaka – The ruling Awami League lawmaker MP Sanowar Hossain yesterday brushed aside the media reports that the party general secretary Obaidul Quader slapped him on Saturday night at the Padma rest house of Jamuna Resort in Tangail.“Some media published false and fabricated news over the issue as part of a conspiracy to disrupt our unity,” Sanowar told the media when he was asked about the newspaper report over the Saturday night incident.
Replying to a question he said, AL general secretary Obaidul Quader did not slapped him on Saturday night what was reported in the media. He also said the AL general secretary was aggrieved for indiscriminate slogans and rush of leaders and activists.
According to the media report, Obaidul Quader physically assaulted MP Sanowar Hossain, when he tried to defend a newly elected AL MP from Tangail-4 (Kalihati) Hasan Imam Khan who had invited him (Quader) to stop over for refreshments.
When contacted Tangail District AL president Fazlur Rahman Farook yesterday said, “our leader (Quader) was annoyed at Hasan Imam’s absence. When Sanowar began to explain, in defence of Hasan Imam, Quader Bhai jostled him (Sanowar) and at one stage he walked out of the rest house up till the gate.”
However, this correspondent contacted some ruling party central leaders and they felt embarrassed to make any comment over the incident.
AL central leaders said they heard from the media that party general secretary Obaidul Quader assaults Tangail-5 constituency MP Sanowar Hossain physically but they don’t want to make any comment over the issue.
Besides, party insiders harshly criticized AL general secretary Obaidul Quader for his rude behavior with the own party’s parliamentary member.
