A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted one-day’s fresh remand against Mufti Harun Izhar in another case filed with Paltan Police Station against Hefajat-e-Islam.Besides, the same Magistrate MA Salam of Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court also directed the Investigation Officer (IO) of another case filed with Paltan Police Station to interrogate former Chatradal President Sultan Salauddin Tuku at the jail gate, if necessary. Earlier, the same court a 10-day remand plea of the IO in the case.
A day earlier, this court had rejected 31 days’ remand plea of IO against Salauddin Tuku. On Nov 14, a court of Dhaka placed him on 20 days’ remand in five cases.
On October 31, police had detained the former Chatradal President from a car of CSF. The users of the car were in charge of security of the Leader of the Opposition, Begum Khaleda Zia. She went there at BNP central office of Motijheel to see ailing Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, a Joint Secretary General of the party.
On the other hand, on October 8, police arrested Mufti Harun and his body-guard Junaid in a case filed for explosion in Lalkhan Bazar Madrasa of Chittagong. Later, on October 31, he was placed on 15 days’ remand in three cases.
In 2010 also, Mufti Harun was arrested for his alleged connection with international militant organization Loskar-e-Toyaba. – Court Correspondent
