Muggers loot Tk 10 lakh of bkash shop in Mirpur

In broad daylight, muggers shot two people including an employee of a ‘bKash’ company and made off with Tk 10 lakh at Rokeya Sarani in Mirpur on Tuesday. The injured were identified as Abul Kalam, 35, a marketing executive of ‘BKash,’ and Mohamamd Kabir Hossain, 25, a private car driver. It seems Abul Kalam, on a motorbike, was carrying the money in a bag to the Kazipara branch of Brac Bank for it to be deposited there. Before he could reach his destination however, he was accosted by the gang of miscreants who rode up on a motorbike of their own and snatched the bag away, according to witnesses. The incident was said to have occurred at 1pm. The muggers also opened fire on Abul Kalam, leaving him injured. Meanwhile, Kabir Hossain, a private car driver who happened to be in the vicinity, also sustained bullet injuries during the incident. The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. – UNB
