Murder, abduction, disappearance to prolong power

The Bnp-led 20-Party Alliance on Friday complained that indiscriminate killing, abduction, enforced disappearances and use of fire arms were on only to prolong ‘illegal hold on power.’
Stating this in a press release Bnp joint secretary general Barkatullah Bulu said that the government was doing one misdeed after another for the purpose. Referring to the recovery of unclaimed body in Satkhira, the opening of fire at the residence of Bnp leader Saidur Rahman in Sylhet by joint forces, and serious injury of Chhatra Dal leader Shahadat Hossain Samrat and Jubadal leader Kamrul Islam by ‘terrorists of the ruling party at Chatkhil in Chittagong were examples of this.Barkatullah Bulu said denial of arrest after making Bnp joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed victim of enforced disappearance reminded the people of Bnp organising secretary and MP Ilyas Ali, Former MP Ilyas Hossain Hiru, Bnp leader Parvez and elected commissioner of Dhaka City Corporation Chowdhury Alam.
He said that the people were concerned and angry at the cruel jokes made and irresponsible comments put by several ministers including the Prime Minister in this regard.
He said Salahuddin’s wife, Hasina Ahmed a former MP, was not even allowed to enter the Prime Minister’s office when she went there to hand over a memorandum. No courtesy was shown and no responsible official was asked to receive the same. Insread the memorandum was received by a clerk.
Bulu said that the wife of Mahmudur Rahman Manna, convener of Nagorik Oikya, complaied of torture on her husband and thus revealed what ordeal other political leaderd were subjecterde to. – News Desk
