Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said in Parliament that her daughter-in-law is not a Jew, she is Christian.“It is unfortunate they (opposition) lack this information. They turned my daughter-in-law into a Jew,” she said.
A couple of days back an opposition MP alleged that the Prime Minister’s daughter-in-law, Christine (wife of Sajeeb Wazed), was a Jew.
Hasina said the opposition slipped up a little. “My daughter-in-law is not a Jew… she is Christian. Christians are our ‘Ahle Kitab’.”
But, she said there is a Jew in the country. “Son-in-law of Dr Kamal Hossain is Jew,” she added.
The Prime Minister said the opposition made a mistake. “I think they wanted to mention about that (Dr Kamal’s son-in-law), but mistake uttered my daughter-in-law’s name.”
She said an opposition MP unnecessarily mentioned her daughter-in-law’s name. “This is unfortunate.” (Source: UNB)
