Smelling a conspiracy behind the nurses’ movement to ‘overthrow’ the government, Health Minister Mohammed Nasim on Monday said most of the protesters are not nurses.“Bangladesh is moving ahead under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership. But, the conspirators are still out to deter the development. This time they’re plotting undercover a movement by nurses,” he said. Dhaka, UNB News Agency Reported.
The minister was addressing a seminar titled ‘Digital Bangladesh not a dream but a reality’ organised by Awami League Subcommittee on Publicity and Publication at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in the city.Committee chairman and PM’s Adviser HT Imam presided over the seminar.
Questioning the purposes of the demonstrations of nurses in front of his private house, Nasim said, “Why did they go to my private house? Why don’t they reach an understanding? Most of them, who went to besiege the house, are not nurses. They were hired in the name of nurses and they wanted corpses.”
Alleging that they wanted to turn the nurses’ movement into an anti-government one, he said but their plot was thwarted.Earlier, some unemployed nurses besieged the Dhanmondi residence of the health minister on June 1 to press home their demands, including recruitment based on seniority.
Speaking on the occasion, State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim said a vested quarter criticised the SIM registration process through biometric method at the beginning. “But our goal was honest and great. We took the initiative to bring discipline in the telecommunication sector and we believe it’ll curb crimes using mobile phones.”
Meanwhile, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said they have been in discussions with stakeholders over the formation of the ‘Digital Cyber Security Act’ and the process to place the draft bill before the Cabinet is underway. “The new law will ensure world standard cyber security in Bangladesh.”
