Manikganj District administration arranged two-day-long programme to
observe the 114th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam
at Teawta, the birth place of his wife Ashalota Sen Gopta (Promila)
under Shibalaya upazila in Manikganj.
ABM Anwarul Haque, local lawmaker, inaugurated the two day’s programme
on Saturday where Golam Mohiuddin, administrator of Manikganj Zila
Parishad, Md. Masood Karim, deputy commissioner of Manikganj, Bidhan
Tripura, police superintendent of Manikganj, Md. Rafiqul Islam,
additional deputy commissioner (general) of Manikganj, poet Nurul
Huda, Nazrul researcher Anupam Hayat, Child Litterateur Khalek Bin
Joeynuddin, poet Faruk Nawaz, Nazrul researcher Rafiqul Islam,
Mohammad Asad, General Secretary of Nazrul Promila Parishad, Abdus
Salam, public prosecutor of Manikganj Judge Court, Abdur Rahim Khan,
chairman of Shivalaya Upazila Parishad, AKM Galiv Khan and, Upazila
Nirbahi Officer, were present and addressed at the inaugural function.
The speakers addressed on works and life of the national poet. They
urged all to take lesson from his works and life.
After the discussion, Manikganj Shilpakala Academy and Shishu Academy
singing the songs.
Genesis Theatre staged ‘Damal Chhele Nazrul’ written by Mamud Ulla and
directed by Nur Hossain. The Apu Foraji and Bithi Akter of the theatre
performed duet dance.
