New BD chief justice very soon, Law Minister

Dhaka 28 Jan – A new Chief Justice will be appointed soon, Law Minister Anisul Huq said on Sunday. “Some new appellate division judges will also be appointed after appointing the Chief Justice”, he said while talking to the reporter at his village home at Kasba in Brahmanbaria.When asked about estimated of appointing Chief Justice, The Law minister did not clear a specific date of appointing of Chief Justice.
Earlier in the day the law minister attend at a student assembly in Kasba high school ground. Where he claimed the judiciary is now totally free and ensure justice for all equally.
About the Zia orphanage trust corruption case verdict schedule for delivery on February 8, the Law minister said, “I will not make any comment over the verdict as it is now a judicial matter. The judiciary is able to deliver his verdict freely at this time.”
He also mentioned, “During the BNP government, Judiciary was not free. They stigmatized the judiciary. Judiciary now ensures justice freely. Minister does not interfere in judicial activities”.
The Law minister also urged the BCL (Bangladesh Chatra League) leaders and the activist to make vigilant in order to protect the wealth of country’s people and its independence.
During his address the minister sited many development work done by himself in his constituency during first four years including road constriction and giving government job to seven hundred seventeen meritorious and suitable persons.
In the gathering at Kasba high school ground former BCL president Bahadur Bepary, current BCL secretary SM Jakir Hossain and many Awami league leaders also delivered their speech. – Staff Reporter
