New FAO representative in B’desh joins office

Dhaka – Susan Lorraine Lautze has joined as the FAO Representative in Bangladesh.
Lautze has already reached here and started work with FAO Dhaka office, Assistant FAO Representative (programme) Dr Nur Ahamed Khondaker told UNB on Monday.
Lautze, a national of the USA, started her career in 1988 in the Ministry of Culture, China. From 1989 to 1991, she worked for WFP in China and in Sudan. From 1991 to 1993, she was Chief of the Assessments and Reporting Division for USAID in Sudan.
She served as an independent contractor for the UN and USAID in the USA, Switzerland, Sudan and North Korea during 1993 to 1996.
Lautze was Senior Advisor (Post-Crisis Recovery), UNDP, Geneva, Switzerland with a focus on the Haiti earthquake and Pakistan floods. She joined FAO in 2010, as Senior Programme Officer for Latin America, Africa and the Caribbean, TCE, in Rome, Italy.
From October 2012 to June 2014, she served as the Head of the FAO Office, in South Sudan, and from June 2014 to March 2015, she was the first ever FAO Representative in South Sudan.
From April 2014 to April 2016, she was Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator for the UN in South Sudan. Since 2016, Lautze has been working as a Senior Advisor in TCE, FAO Rome, Italy. -UNB
