New party ‘Bongo League’ in offing for ‘healthy politics’

A new political party is taking shape led by a former army official in protest against the ongoing politics of violence and anarchy including hartal, blockade and bombings and to bring healthy politics in the country.
The new party named Bangladesh Jatiya Banga League is also committed to play a key role to help the national development programme taken by the government, said its convenor Major (Retd) Shawkat Hassan Mia.
Addressing a press conference at his Shahjadpur office in the city he said the new party would seed money to ultra poor people across the country to change their fortune with different projects to make their livelihood better.He said the party, which would formally be floated by March 7, would raise fund from their members and supporters and distribute the money among the dirt poor.
Banga League member secretary Dr Shofiqur Rahman, vice president—Advocate Abdul Khaleque Miah, chief adviser Major Sayeedur Rahman (Retd), SA Khan Mahi and publicity secretary Nazim Talukder, among others, were present on the occasion.
Replying to a question, Shawkat Hassan Mia said, “The current political stalemate should be resolved by ourselves not by foreigners.”
He said the organization has already 161-member central convening committee and 101-member committees were also formed at district and upazila levels.
“We have already about one million members across the country,” he added.
The convenor said they have taken the initiative with a positive approach aiming at protecting the country from destruction and stand besides the people.
“We will raise our voice from the fields against any misdeed and appreciate good job,” he said adding that they would nourish the ideology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in carrying the political activities.  – Staff Reporter
