Nilkhet book shops in capital gutted in fire

A fire has burned down several shops at the Nilkhet book market in capital Dhaka.
The flames which ignited around 10pm Wednesday was doused within an hour, said a Fire Service control room official.
There are several book markets at Nilkhet. The fire gutted the shops between the Islamia market, which is on the west side, and Babupura market.Six fire-righting units doused the fire, but it was not confirmed how many shops were damaged.
Fire-fighters at the scene said at least five shops were gutted.
What caused the fire was not immediately known, but fire-fighters suspected an electric short-circuit.
The markets were closed on Wednesday as Bangladesh observed the Independence Day. – bdnews24.com
