Nine gold bars concealed in abdomen recovered at airport

Dhaka – Nine gold bars were recovered by Customs Intelligence after the carrier of the consignment released those through his stool passage at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on early Wednesday.
The nine gold bars were concealed inside stomach of the carrier, known as Roman Talukdar, 35, who was arrived at the airport by a flight of Bangladesh Biman Airlines from Kuala Lumpur at around 6:00 pm on Tuesday.

Sources at the airport said, officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) suspiciously challenged Roman when he was about to leave the airport through green channel on Tuesday evening.
After screening Roman through Archway, the customs intelligence officials suspected that metal like object were kept hidden inside his abdomen, said CIID’s director general Dr Moinul Khan.
As he denied to have such metal inside his stomach, the CIID officials took Roman to a local clinic and detected presence of gold bars inside his stomach through x-ray report, the CIID’ DG added.
Finally, Roman was taken back to the Airport and encouraged him to release the gold bars by himself and later, at around 1:30 am, Roman released nine gold bars through his stoole passage, said Assistant director of CIID Md Zakaria.
It is the rare incident of gold recovery such a way, Assistant Director Zakaria added. – News Desk
