Nine including 4 children burnt in Sarail fire

Nine people, including four children, were burnt in a fire originated from gas cylinder leaks in Sarail, Brahmanbaria, on Friday night.The injured people were taken to three hospitals, including Dhaka Medical College Hospital.Witnesses said the incident occured when gas coming out of a cylinder caused the fire in the house of Rassel Mia. The fire engulfed the house as soon as Mia’s wife opened the door of the house after a few hours.

The cylinder containing liquified petroleum (LP) gas was kept in that house.Local people managed to douse the flame before the members of fire service reached the scene, Sarail police officer-in-charge Md Ali Arshad said.Three of the victims — Kalu Mia, 28, Abdur Rahman, 8, and Yamin Mia, 8, were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital burn unit.Shewli Begum, 25, Jarina Begum, 30, Saima Begum, 10, and Taslima Begum, 10, were admitted to district sadar hospital while Eklas Mia, 25, and Ibrahim Mia, 18, were admitted to upazila health complex.Local health officer Anas Ibne Malek said about 30 per cent of the bodies of Eklas and Ibrahim Mia were burnt in the fire.
